REFUGEES
This section will address refugees from the Middle East, Africa, and Nepal specifically, as these are the highest refugee populations in Canada, specifically Alberta. Please note that the refugees who came from Nepal are not Nepali, but Bhutanese. As a result, our classrooms experienced a shift from a more homogenous student population, to a heterogeneous one. The resources found under each category will address information pertaining to each population, specifically.
RESOURCES TO ASSIST ALL REFUGEES
The following resources address issues such as trauma, mental health struggles, and other issues faced by refugee youth in our classrooms which hinder their ability to learn. Knowing these issues exist, and doing what we can to learn about our students experiences, will help us better support our refugee students.
